Church of Ireland
Founded in 1911, Church of Ireland Hockey Club is a mixed hockey club
based in a multi-sports complex in the Cork City suburb of Rochestown.
Currently, it has over two hundred regular adult playing members of all
ages and abilities in Men's and Ladies' sections and fields six Men's
teams and six Ladies' teams every weekend throughout the season.
The Men's team has won the Irish Senior Cup on four occasions and its
second XI are the current holders of the Irish Junior Cup. The club
currently boasts a host of Irish internationals at all age levels
including senior.
Our Men's and Ladies teams compete in every division in Munster hockey
and both 1st and 2nd teams compete in the Irish Senior and Junior Cups.
The club has a long established sand based pitch, and installed a state
of the art water based Astroturf pitch in 2005, along with an all seated
viewing area. This stadium has successfully hosted a number of
international matches.
International Player Former players: Reg Treacy - international with over 50 caps (equivalent
today of probably 3 times that number!); Alistair Dunne and current
players who have all been capped by Ireland including John Jermyn, David
Hobbs, Karl Burns, Mark Ruddle, Andy Herbert, Phil Smith and Nigel
Buttimer.
